Job Description & Requirements
This position is part of the Research and Development team and is responsible for providing technical proficiency cross-functionally related to dairy and non-dairy beverage packaging, with a focus on innovation, productivity and cost savings programs.
Articulates complex technical information and translates to non-technical audiences.
Leads work across all business functions to positively yeild results, and at times, lead project launches.
Identifies, implements, formulates and executes cost savings opportunities independently within a cross functional team.
Assesses technical feasibility and provide direction on material / machine capabilities
Coordinates and conducts production line trials of new or modified packaging materials
Develops and maintains component specifications
Prepares test plans, technical reports and documentation for the technical community
Provide direction to various suppliers for new or modified package developments
Work across all functions, including Purchasing, Operations, Engineering and Marketing to support project launches
3+ years’ experience in package development and commercialization within an R&D environment
Minimally, a Bachelor of Science in Packaging, or equivalent engineering degree
Demonstrates substantial knowledge of packaging equipment and material systems
Extensive expertise, hands-on and theoretical, with exemplary experience in the following areas:
Plastics (ridged containers, closures, etc.)
IBM and EBM
Polymer Films, Foils and Specialty films
Liquid Paper Packaging
Printing & Corrugate Solutions
Qualification Methods & Practices
Packaging Regulations knowledge, specific to food/beverages
Quality Control & Sampling knowledge and practice
Co-Packer development and commercializing with such
Strategic and tactical decision-making ability using sound scientific principles and data
Capability in directing suppliers through design, development and improvement projects
Competent in conceptually designing packages, utilizing consumer insight and technical knowledge
Aptitude to lead multiple projects in cross-functional environment
Able to build technical competencies across multiple packaging platforms
Proactive contributor and effective communicator within packaging and project teams
Technical thinker with business awareness
Energetic and motivated
Six Sigma training preferred
Position includes +25% travel
