Kobe Aluminum Automotive Products (KAAP) is part of the Kobe Steel Group, which is known internationally by the KOBELCO brand and for quality materials and machinery. KAAP began production in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in 2005. Although we are new to the United States, we have been serving the aircraft and automotive industry in Japan since 1937. Our market leadership in Japan attests to the quality of the aluminum automotive parts we manufacture.
As part of the global drive to conserve fuel, reducing the weight of automobiles has become a vital concern of automobile makers worldwide. Aluminum parts forged by KAAP are light weight. By contributing to the overall reduction in weight of the automobile, our products help consumers save through lowered fuel consumption, and ultimately are better for the environment.
Administers and improves quality assurance programs, procedures, and controls in all departments for IATF compliance, develops and maintains quality assurance requirements in compliance with Quality Management System standards.
Responsible for administering and improving the quality management system
Interacts with all department regarding the QMS
Responsible for TS16949 Quality System Requirements and related audits
Prepares internal audit plans for IATF, VDA, ISO etc.
Identifies root cause of audit findings implements corrective actions and verifies effectiveness
Ensures that customer’s quality requirements are met and monitored on a regular basis
Acts as MR for IATF 16949
Supports corrective and preventative actions for internal and external quality issues
Contributes to the continuous improvement process of the QMS
Conducts internal and external quality audits
Performs other duties as required
Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
Reading detail of Quality Standards, organizational, supervisory, computer skills
(Windows, Excel, Word, Access, Computer Aided Design), mathematical, and statistical, and problem solving skills.
Working knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), FMEA (Failure Mode and effects Analysis), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), Process sign off, and Part Submission Warrants.
Observes OSHA, EPA, and Company rules and regulations concerning safety.
Good communication skills within interdepartmental units
Maintains and cleans work area and reports maintenance problems.
Undergraduate degree in Engineering and/or five years of experience, preferred in the automotive industry (preferable in aluminum forging and casting). Experience will be considered in lieu of degree. ASQ certification a plus.
Knowledge of statistical analysis, precision measurement, process validation, supplier quality, product testing, training and development, process capability studies, good verbal and written skills.
