Telophase Corporation, a federal and commercial IT Services company in the Washington DC Metro area, is seeking a PCB Designer / Layout Engineer to join our team of Engineers at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD.

The ESES III contract is tasked with providing a broad range of engineering and related services to the GSFC Electrical Engineering Directorate as required, for the formulation, design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of space flight and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies in support of NASA’s current and future space flight and ground system projects.

Role/Responsibilities:
The PCB Designer/Layout Engineer will support the design and development of complex PCB designs for Ground Support, Testing, and Flight systems. This position will support all phases of design, including schematic capture, layout, routing, symbol and footprint creation, generation of Gerber files, assembly drawings and other required PCB fabrication drawings and files as required. The PCB Designer/Layout Engineer will work directly with the design engineers and mechanical engineers for part placement and packaging, providing estimates of efforts and working to assigned schedules. A successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver who is able to work around technical obstacles and work independently with little direct supervision. This individual will be a leader working in a fast-paced and challenging environment supporting multiple missions at Goddard Space Flight Center.

Specific duties will include:
The PCB Designer/Layout Engineer will provide technical direction and guidance on electrical engineering analyses, design, development, and layout support for high performance PCB designs and assemblies for aerospace applications, including the following:

Design and development of analog and high speed digital circuitry for systems that include Satellite Antenna tracking, detector controls, navigation systems, C&DH systems, and ground support test systems.
Support design engineers in activities from circuit design, schematic capture, simulation, testing/debugging through PCB layout.
Provide all required documentation such as layout, routing, symbol and footprint creation, generation of Gerber files, assembly drawings and other required PCB fabrication files from inception through release.
Provide technical consultation advice to project managers regarding design issues, development and PCB layout.

Required Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree,in an appropriate engineering discipline or related physical science and a minimum of 10 years CAD/CAE experience in electronic packaging/printed circuit board layout for aerospace applications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A candidate with a solid understanding of PCB design and electronic packaging for flight hardware applications including electrical, electronic and mechanical systems design is highly desired. Areas to include: AC, DC, RF, Analog, High Speed Digital, and High Voltage systems.
Preferred candidates will be experienced with PADS (Mentor Graphic) PCB and Autorouter, multi-layer routing methods, fabrication drawings and controlled engineering release process. Other programs such as Altium will be considered.
Knowledge of IPC 6010 design standards, with specific experience of IPC 6012 3/a is desired.
Experience designing high-layer count (>12) PCBs with multi-lamination construction is desired.
Experience with breakout and layout of high-density BGA/CGA packages is desired.
Experience working with PCB suppliers for DFM and design release is a plus.
Experience with AutoCAD, Adobe, Gerber packages, and Microsoft suite is desired.
The candidate must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
The candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with a diverse group of contractor and Government.
The candidate must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
The candidate should also be very adaptable to change.
The candidate must meet government NAC and US citizenship/work permit requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Adherence to Nondisclosure Agreement(s) for review of contractor proprietary information will be required
