The Transmission Engineer works for and under the general direction of the RAN Operations Manager. Responsibilities include planning and designing a secured, expandable, robust, resilient and cost-effective network infrastructure for terrestrial, submarine cable and wireless network; Provides support to Sales and Marketing group on enterprise network solutions; Troubleshooting, installing, implementing and administering network systems such as Multiplexers, Radio and provide higher level support. Also analyzes capacity issues and develops capacity planning models. Responsible for ensuring planned testing activities are executed and for developing network security guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Employee will:
Know and uphold the established IT&E Mission, policies and procedures, Department and Division objectives, quality assurance and safety programs and standards.
Conducts short and long-term planning to meet network requirements.
Designs and implements expandable, reliable and cost-effective network systems.
Analyzes network activity, stats (KPI) and network problems, recommends network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance.
Develops capacity planning models.
Assesses network performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the business. Provides network planning recommendations to management.
Recommend system upgrades to meet forecasted market demands.
Evaluates services provided by vendors and recommends changes.
Assist other engineers and in their areas of responsibility, as needed.
Perform integration, operation and maintenance of Wireless and Terrestrial backhaul including Fiber Optics, Licensed/Unlicensed Microwave radios, Multiplexers.
Ability to splice, connect and test Fiber Optic Equipment
Able and willing to climb towers to install, repair and maintain microwave, point to point, point to multipoint and other equipment as deemed necessary.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of work, spares and inventory of resources.
Can perform RF line-of-sight survey, signal strength, coverage throughout
Able to analyze and inspect electrical systems
Able to use telecommunications test equipment
Perform other related duties as required and directed.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in telecommunications or electrical engineering or related field, or a combination of technical training, either manufacturer or trade school, and equivalent additional work experience
Work Experience: Four years progressive experience in the wireless technical operations and/or engineering aspects of telecommunications
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the minimum knowledge, abilities, and skills
The preferred Candidate will have the following Special Qualifications:
Strong background in design, implementation and operations of Microwave Radio such as Ceragon, Aviat, NEC, Air fiber, Ubiquiti & Cambium products
Background with cell site power systems, including rectifiers, batteries and distribution equipment
Background in IP Networking
Background in Fiber Optics and Multiplexers such as Ciena
Background in IBS, DAS, Repeater installations
Valid Driver’s License
Certification in Tower Climbing preferred at the time of hire, or willingness to be certified
Certification in Bucket Truck Operations or willingness to be certified.
Chauffeur License or willingness to be licensed

Telecommunications standards and best practices
Accepted personnel supervision theories and practices
Principles and concepts of team building and resource management
Preparing complex and technical written reports and analyses
Use of personal computer hardware, Microsoft software programs
Telecommunications equipment such as Multiplexer, RFC2544 test sets, spectrum Analyzer, Fiber Optics Tester, Grounding Tester, Site Analyzer.
Communicate clearly, concisely and accurately with all levels of staff and customers, both verbally and in writing
Analyze, understand and interpret work situations, technical documents, reports and results
Perform in a self-directed, hard-working, creative and forward-thinking manner
Able to respond 24 x 7 on call and some certain conditions.
