The Continuous Improvement Engineer leads continuous improvement, lean activities to deliver quality, time, and cost performance improvement...relentlessly pursing a better way!
Performs traditional Industrial Engineering activities in support of new product line starts and/or relocation.
Leads a team of CI technicians. Responsible for effective communication of engineering information among team members.
Follows the structure of the Pella Project Management, Safety, Continuous Improvement and Quality Systems throughout project execution.
Goes Gemba to investigate problems to identify root cause and develops corrective actions in order to reach and sustain improvement goals.
Supports and leads development of an army of problem solvers.
Job Duties for the Continuous Improvement Engineer:
Conceives, develops and implements projects to improve total productivity in support of Safety, Quality and Productivity Teams.
Participates in or directs activities to improve products, processes and/or equipment through application of Kaizen techniques, including Product/Process Preparation events.
Provides engineering support to Continuous Improvement through the active participation in various Kaizen events (shop floor, business process, and/or product/process preparation).
Enthusiastically participates on Kaizen team activities.
Essential job qualifications for the Continuous Improvement Engineer includes the following:
Bachelor’s Degree is required. Engineering Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
At least one to three years engineering experience within the manufacturing industry. Co-op or internship experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications as well as Minitab
Proficiency in AutoCAD preferred
Practicing knowledge of Lean Sigma principals and tools
Lean Sigma Green or Black Belt Certified and/or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred
