Information Security Engineer (ISE) oversees the design and integration of information security applications and hardware appliances with IT infrastructure to enable monitoring, logging, vulnerability management, and proactive response. The Information Security Engineer will report to the Director of Information Security.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops Information Security Plans and Policies:
o Helps plan and carry out TCC's information security strategy
o Develops a set of security standards and best practices for the organization and recommend security enhancements to management as needed
o Develops strategies to respond to and recover from a security breach
o Installs and uses software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect the organization's sensitive information
o Assists computer users with installation or processing of new security products and procedures
Tests for Vulnerabilities:
o Conducts periodic scans of networks to find any vulnerability
o Conducts penetration testing, in which they simulate an attack on the system to highlight or find any weaknesses that might be exploited by a malicious party
o Continuously monitors the college's networks and systems for security breaches or intrusions
o Installs software that helps to notify the Office of Information Security and watches out for irregular system behavior
o Following a breach, leads incident response activities to minimize the impact and conduct a technical and forensic investigation into how the breach happened and the extent of the damage
o Prepares reports of their findings to be reported to management
Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in IT, Information Security, Cybersecurity or related field and seven (7) years of experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and related experience
Any two of the following Certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Personnel (CISSP), or CompTIA Certified Advanced Security Practioner (CASP) or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) with Windows Security Administrator Certification (GCWIN)
Direct experience with anti-virus software, reverse malware engineering, intrusion detection, firewalls, and content filtering
Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Information Security, Cyber Security, or Information Assurance
Ten (10) years of directly related experience
Any two (2) of the following certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Personnel (CISSP), or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) with Forensic Analyst (GCFA), or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) with Network Security Monitor (GMON), or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) with Security Controls Aiding (GCCC), or EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or EC-Council Certified Forensics Hacking Investigator (CHFI)
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies, and methods.
Experience in designing secure networks, systems, and application architectures.
Knowledge of disaster recovery, computer forensic tools, technologies, and methods
Experience planning, researching, and developing security policies, standards, and procedures
Professional experience in a system administration role supporting multiple platforms and applications
Ability to communicate network security issues to peers and management
Ability to read and use the results of mobile code, malicious code, and anti-virus software
