Work with a team of experienced utility engineers to assist with designing/managing water/wastewater projects including related studies, designs, specifications, estimates and preparation of construction documents.
Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for utility design improvement and relocation projects
Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to utility infrastructure systems
Prepare and review technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents
Direct and assist with the development of project staff and subconsultants
Assist with business development efforts and presentations
Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans
Participate in community project outreach with a focus on utilities
Support utility field services and investigations when required
Facilitate construction administration and engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests and change orders) when required
Communicate effectively and coordinate with clients, utility owners, project teams including other disciplines, such as architects, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical designers, cost estimators, GIS technicians, other utility design professionals
Prepare detailed engineering cost estimates
Required Technical and Functional Skills:
Direct experience pertaining to water distribution and sewer collection systems
Excellent technical writing and communication skills
Demonstrated proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint is required
Proficiency with CADD platforms including Autocad/Civil 3D and/or Micro Station
Required Education and Certification
College graduate with one (1) to five (5) years of water/wastewater project experience.
Preferred Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field
EIT or P.E. license (preferably Virginia)
Topographic surveying and/or utility construction experience
Enjoys working with others to solve complex utility issues
