The Long Term Mine Planning Engineer will own the long-term planning process by maintaining and updating the long-term plan. You will be a key contributor to the technical services group and work closely with the engineering team, geology, and mine operations.
This opportunity requires relocation to Juneau, AK and work a 4 days on / 3 days off rotation with the possibility of working remotely with occasional site visits for the short term
Create, maintain, and update reserve shapes, envision future potentials and supply info for management decision making for various mining scenarios
Create detailed life of mine plan based on the latest block models from Geology, including mining sequence and scheduling for ore and waste development, stope production, and backfill
Work with the Mid-Range Planning Engineer to update the 13-week rolling plan monthly and complete quarterly forecasts throughout the year
Collaborate with Short Range Planning Engineers and Drill Blast Engineers to ensure creation of feasible plans and mining methods
Review diamond drilling plans for both exploration and mine geology and suggest areas that may need additional diamond drilling
Run ventilation modeling scenarios in life of mine areas
Review and update engineering/scheduling sections of technical report as needed
Mentor and supervise Short Range Planning Engineers
Perform other duties as per requested, assist planning engineers
Bachelor’s degree in Mine/Mining Engineering
5-10 years of progressive experience in site engineering positions
Thorough understanding of mine operations and infrastructure requirements
Ability to view the long term while still dealing with day-to-day operations.
Ability to present and defend plans and designs using engineering and financial fundamentals
Advanced to expert user with Vulcan, Deswik (or similar) mine planning software, and Microsoft Office computer software desired
Knowledge of geotechnical and ventilation systems required, and use of geotechnical and ventilation software such as UnWedge, VentSim etc.
