Develops processes, tools, methods and standards in COHU-MN operations. Interfaces with R&D, Standard Product Engineering (SPE), Purchasing, Planning, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, and Product Management to document and release all aspects of product manufacturing. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a set of production and inspection procedures to drive quality and efficiency improvements. Works with SPE and Field Service to solve issues in manufacturing. Develops and sustains process improvements to reduce cost and improve efficiency on new and existing product lines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Plans and designs methods to maximize efficiency in production
Determines processes, parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals
Assures compliance with approved methods and quality standards
Works with all departments to ensure new products are introduced into standard production workflow and to provide manufacturing support for process and product related issues
Serve as key technical resource for training of production associates and group leaders on both new and existing processes
Execute change control activities through ECR/ECO activity
Coordination of manufacturing releases for engineering changes and new product introductions, including release of new process work instructions and all associated training
Assists in planning and establishing the sequence of operations to assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization of resources
Lead, manage and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement projects to increase process capacity and reliability, improve product quality, increase yields, and reduce manufacturing costs
Utilize Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques to drive continuous improvements
Works with suppliers and internal staff to ensure part manufacturability
Maintains and develops assembly and inspection procedures
Assist with equipment selection and drive implementation of new equipment
Works with company ERP system to monitor and analyze operation efficiency
Limited travel may be required depending on project type

Education and Experience:
B.S. degree required, preferably in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering
3 years minimum process improvement experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Ability to utilize engineering principles to develop robust manufacturing processes
Experience in leading or participating in cross functional project teams
Proven experience taking a project from concept to application
Experience with FMEA process and 8D problem solving methodology
Understanding of part fabrication techniques and methods
Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and practices
Familiar with Microsoft Office products, and ERP systems
Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with both domestic and foreign colleagues/suppliers
3D CAD modeling experience is a plus (Solidworks)
Programming experience is a plus (, Excel Macros)
Semiconductor/Electronics mechanical design experience is a plus
