Purpose:
Management of new product development projects, including design and cross-functional teams, through a phase-gate process to release industry-leading products that meet a predetermined scope and product requirements

Direct Reports: 2-3

Essential Functions:
  • Leads and manages direct reports
  • Works with cross-functional teams to produce designs that meet or exceed the project scope and product requirements
  • Provides clear concise reports that detail project progress and performance
  • Provides design concepts and direction for design team.
  • Utilizes Engineering calculations and theory to make design decisions
  • Researches new design and processing technologies to continually advance products
  • Assesses designs from all internal and external customer points of view
  • Provides direction for test plan and testing procedures
  • Works with other BRP Marine Group engineering support teams for specific project and product needs
  • Utilizes Engineering departmental processes to accurately and consistently produce results
  • Works with the management team to continuously improve the department and business through annual improvement projects
  • Manages business decisions based on their return on investment where possible
  • Manages project schedules and resources to meet established timelines
  • Researches and shows understanding of raw material grades and available forms
  • Performs other project work and duties as assigned
  • Expected travel: < 25%
Qualification/Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Powersports and/or boating design experience preferred
  • Drive: Passionately approaching problems and solutions and driving for results
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Solidworks, or other 3D modeling software
