Position Title: Telemetry Product Engineer
Reports To: Manager of Electrical Engineering
Status: Regular Full-time
Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan
Job Summary:
The telemetry product engineer will be involved in supporting the continued development of a state-of-the-art telemetry systems. The engineer can expect to perform many functions such as development of software configurations, configuration management, customer dashboard design, testing, investigation, research, and overall product management. The candidate can be expected to work with telemetry systems installed on high voltage Li-ion battery systems and the applications. This position will require the candidate to have an aptitude for data analytics, software, and electronics. This position is for someone who is flexible and would like to develop themselves in many different disciplines of engineering. You will join an enthusiastic development team to deliver high-quality, robust products to our markets.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support the overall management of our telemetry products
Support deployment of our telemetry products
Continuous development of software and software configurations for telemetry devices
Continuous development of customer data portals
Create and/or maintain design documents, process documents, and checklists
Release of designs for production, prototypes, and test equipment
Support and manage continuous development of telemetry systems
Support and manage customer data portals (i.e. user management, dashboards, report generation, etc.)
Assist fellow BMS (Battery Management System) engineers in design of experiments, lab test setups, and executions, and support bug/defect tracking and reporting activities
Additional Support Responsibilities:
Works closely with System Engineers, Software Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Data Analysts to ensure the telemetry system design fulfills all functions necessary for the safe and effective operation of the host battery pack.
Write embedded software for battery and testing applications
Prepare Hardware/Software interface specifications, performance specifications, diagnostic specifications, and product specifications.
Position Qualifications:
B.S. in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering
Mid-Level Position. Minimum 3-4 years relevant work experience is desired, or equivalent academic project experience will be considered
Key Competencies:
Some knowledge of electronic/electrical design
Experience with CANbus Communications, specifically J1939 CAN standards
Experience using various software configuration or development tools.
Direct experience with telemetry or IOT devices and/or systems
Proficiency with various data formats (e.g JSON, SQL, CSV, etc.)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
A high level of initiative and a proactive nature (Most important)
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Builds safety, quality and compliance into all actions; committed to continuous learning and self-improvement
Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support on-site customer testing, debug, or sales/proposal activities
