As an Intermediate Programmer Analyst, you will be joining a team of programmers who are passionate about IT systems, software development and different programming environments. This position will challenge you and provide you with opportunities for career and team growth. You will be responsible for delivering complex and timely solutions while working with other team members, and other software teams, to ensure success.
As an Intermediate Programmer Analyst, you will be expected to have a working knowledge of programming, event-based programming, as well as solid analytical skills. Ideally you learn old and new programming languages quickly and are open to both legacy and newer technologies. This candidate will report to the Development Information Technology Manager.
Develop and implements new business applications, creating and modifying programming code
Review business functional requirements and develops code to ensure new business applications are designed to meet specifications
Maintain existing business application systems including miraging acquisitions ERP into existing
Review business functional requirements and develops code to ensure business applications are modified to meet revised specifications.
Contribute to the effectiveness of other team members through leadership, guidance, and training as required
Manage development and maintenance projects ensuring programming deliverables and schedules are met
Proven skill in debugging applications both methodically and intuitively.
Ensure bugs and maintenance issues are dealt with in a speedy and efficient manner
Interest in learning IBM Power modernization Tools/applications
College diploma or University degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering,
minimum of 3 years equivalent work experience
Broad knowledge of hardware, system software and programming languages
The ability to learn quickly and to contribute to a team effort
A logical approach to problem solving
Good interpersonal and client-handling skills with the ability to manage expectations and explain technical detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Initiative and self-confidence
Preferable Technical skills:
Hardware Platform - IBM Power (AS/400, i Series)
Significant experience using command language, menus and Operations Navigator at V5R3 and prior levels.
Cobol, RPG, ILE, DB2
Understanding of V5R2 & V5R3 functionality.
LANSA development tools - Visual LANSA, LANSA for the Web. – Willing to train
SQL-PSM, DDL, materialized query tables, MySQL, other databases
Web-based technologies – LAMP stack
Nice to have: RDi, Pathfinder, SSMS, AFPU, DDS, DDL, CLLE, IFS, PASE, etc.
Expected familiarity with third-party iSeries applications:
Hawkeye – Pathfinder
TL Ashford – Barcode 400/TLA Forms
