This Package Development Engineer will help deliver new consumer products to market through innovation of new methodologies and/or technologies for package development. The candidate will be expected to deliver packaging systems in support of company goals while working independently with moderate supervision. The successful candidate will be expected to plan and organize specific areas of projects, defining scope, range, and problem resolution methods and techniques. The candidate will be responsible for all required specifications, documentation, package line trials, and package testing to support all change controls and product release requirements. They must also possess strong technical writing/documentation skills and a demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify root causes, draw conclusions and generate reports that present sound data driven conclusions.
The Package Development Engineer will participate in cross-functional project teams and may act as the leader of specific work streams.
He or she will interact closely with the other cross-functional groups including other Global Engineering Associates, Research & Development, Marketing, Project Management, Design, Operations and Regulatory Affairs.
This role will require creative problem-solving abilities, sound technical background, and a passion for developing consumer product packaging for global consumers.
The position will primarily support New Product Innovation/Development with limited marketed product support
Sustainability is a key element of our Innovation/Packaging Strategy for Self-Care and the engineer will be expected to proactively drive sustainability in all aspects of design and development.
BS degree in Packaging, Engineering or a related Science discipline is required;
2 years minimum experience in Package Development or related function is required.
Consumer/Personal Care or Pharmaceutical Industry is preferred
Experience working with OTC/NDA drugs and/or medical devices is strongly preferred;
Regulated industry is preferred
Solid understanding of a broad spectrum of packaging materials, structures, components, and related conversion processes is required.
Experience in package line trials and package testing is preferred;
Ability to manage multiple rapidly changing priorities with minimal supervision is required;
Strong technical writing/documentation skills are required;
This position may require up to 20% travel (primarily domestic).
