The Chief Mine Engineer is responsible fro all aspects of underground engineering and ensuring the operation is supported in terms of planning, ventilation, rock mechanics, budgeting, and development and production prints.
Oversee short-term and long-term planning to ensure production targets are met safely and on budget.
Ensure the mine's ventilation system is monitored and meets airflow requirements to allow for safe mining and efficient gas clearing.
Perform and oversee development and production designs including ore accesses and long hole production designs.
Provide guidance to the survey department and mine engineer.
Work closely with the Geology department to ensure grade is optimized and ore recovery is maximized.
Provide engineering guidance and design for ground support to ensure a safe work condition underground and that ground support standards are adhered to.
Qualification and/or Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
10 years of experience working in an underground mining engineering role.
Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation is required.
Proficient in underground mine design including drift design and long hole design using AutoCad Promine.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work within a small team.
Experience working at a supervisory level and the ability to supervise up to five people at a time.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
Strong leadership skills are a must.
