About This Position
As the Vehicle Operations Safety Engineer you will coordinate and support cross team activities as an ambassador for Safety. A successful individual will contribute to safety training programs and monitor performance indicators of the operations of a fleet of vehicles. This may also include participation in both proactive and reactive response and analysis of fleet activities both on a closed course and public road environment.
What You'll Do:
Lead investigations into employee safety concerns and other potential issues that could pose risks to the safety of Aptiv vehicles currently operating in the field, and work with engineering teams to develop solutions when needed
Analyze data from vehicles to identify and assess trends
Work with Legal and other teams to respond to governmental investigations and legal claims
Communicate our field safety processes to outside stakeholders including first responders
Help promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization
Interface with the vehicle operations teams to review training processes and safety related content for each software release
Act as a conduit for feedback between vehicle operations and software development
What You'll Bring:
Hands-on experience with field safety in the form of applicable safety standards, accident reconstruction, failure analysis, and/or automotive defect investigation
Analytical proficiency demonstrated through experience performing quantitative risk assessment, reliability analysis, and/or statistical data analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication
Self motivated and ability to network internally
Software familiarity in autonomy or machine learning
Familiarity with product liability principles
Experience in evaluating and ensuring regulatory compliance and/or interacting with regulators
Experience with highly automated vehicles
Experience with implementing or managing an SMS
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical degree and 5+ years work experience
Additional education may include M.S. in engineering or a related technical field
