This is an exciting opportunity to join Abbott's dynamic advanced development team committed to innovating the treatment of chronic pain and movement disorders. This Advanced Development Engineer is responsible for creating and assessing future growth opportunities for Abbott Neuromodulation Division. They will work cross functionally with upstream marketing, applied research, product development leads, regulatory and clinical strategists. They will lead early stage development of technology that is designed to address a specific customer and business need. Ultimately, they will ensure that these products are successfully transitioned to the product development teams.
M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering
Vast experience in the successful delivery of complex technology programs
Experience developing products in medical device industry
Experience with mechanical engineering w.r.t medical devices - prototyping, feasibility testing, failure analysis, and application of new technology
5+ years of experience in R&D development, including the system design and integration of complex multi-discipline systems
Experience as a technical lead engineer and/or project manager
Collaborative, team-oriented, strategic leader with ability to make complex design trade-offs
Bachelor's degree and minimum 10 years of related work experience with a complete understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical device technology and product development
Hands-on ability to build prototypes for use in the implantable medical device field
