Summary:
The applications engineer is responsible for the engineering and design content of projects & customer proposals for all assigned accounts at the Waukesha Magnetic Bearings office in Pawcatuck, CT. Performs engineering calculations, expedites, and processes engineering changes. Direct liaison with customers for the resolution of technical matters as well as the development of products for customer projects. Responsible for interpreting design requirements and specifications and develop those into an engineered solution.

Applicant shall be a US citizen and be able to obtain a Secret clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze product designs, interpret results and determine optimum solution to the customers’ problem. Prepare technical information for new projects to customers’ specifications.
Develop close working relationships with key customers’ technical contacts. Significant customer interaction with respect to the engineering and management of projects.
Interpret designs, assist / instruct the Design team, perform engineering calculations, perform FEA analysis (e.g., stress, electromagnetic), examine specifications (procurement, MIL, ASME, etc.), expedite and process engineering changes (ECNs).
Interpret and review manufacturing and assembly drawings
Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects
Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals
Participating in client/contractor meetings and resolving client/engineering and management project issues

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required, with 0 to 5 years of relevant experience
Strong understanding of Engineering Principles and design practices
Demonstrated ability to create ideas and develop solutions – Excellent problem-solving skills
Very strong communication skills – Ability to interface with customers
Strong computer skills & familiarity with 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred Familiarity with using FEA simulation software
Understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 a plus
Must be familiar with the impact of the manufacturing process on the key factors that control a part’s form, fit, and function.
