Develops, evaluates, recommends and implements test plans regarding product safety, reliability and performance, based on researched relevant standards.
Primary Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Perform product testing for safety, reliability, and performance.
Design, program and build test equipment
Research competitive performance and features to benchmark test results
Analyze test results and issue written reports with results, analysis, and recommendations
Design tests to troubleshoot designs requested by assigned team members
Document test procedures
Apply engineering practices to provide design solutions based on test and theory
Critique, review, and provided feedback for design improvements
Participate in value analysis, cost analysis, and quality improvement efforts
Participate in cross-function teams by working together to develop project schedules, define product features, FMEA reviews, and brainstorm design solutions
Participate in or chair review meetings related to design and testing
BSME required or equivalent work experience commensurate to degree.
Minimum 3 years working in new product development team environment required.
At least 3 years' experience with electromechanical product design and consumer product testing required.
Knowledgeable with industry standards and agency approval process; U.L. standards a plus.
Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical test equipment and programs to include: PLC, automation software, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power analyzers, pressure and flow gauges and other bench-top equipment.
Experience with fractional horsepower AC and DC motors and knowledge of plastics.
Previous experience working in a mass marketed consumer goods industry highly desirable. Participation in cross-functional product teams, including experience developing products with overseas vendors strongly preferred.
Ability to manage time between multiple projects.
Ability to convey technical concepts through group and one-on-one sessions effectively, including both written and verbal communication.
Documentation and technical writing skills; organized and detail conscious.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; working knowledge of ProEngineer highly desirable.
Creative yet practical in problem solving with previous experience recommending design solutions. Working knowledge of six sigma methodology a plus.

Experience in the hands-on assembly of prototypes, products and disassembly of competitive products.
Ability to travel internationally (i.e. China) required (approximately 1-2 times/year, up to 2 weeks at a time)
