The Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity and reliability of equipment by analyzing the design of all proposed new equipment or process modifications, updating maintenance strategies and exercising/adapting best industry practices.
He or she will be responsible for providing support in achieving operational excellence in terms of safety, reliability, and integrity by continuously monitoring equipment and system performance to anticipate failures and proactively address issues through effective equipment strategies.
To provide coaching and subject matter expertise to unit operations and Maintenance Engineers across the site enhancing a culture of learning.
Lead reliability focused projects including completing necessary MOC’s and project scopes as needed.
The Reliability Engineer routinely monitors the asset health of critical systems.
Review and analyze the respective performance KPI’s to predict pending failures and initiate proactive intervention to mitigate potential consequences.
Proactively addresses operational or integrity issues with corrective action recommendations.
Reliability & Maintenance
The Reliability Engineer provides Subject Matter Expert Support and expertise to site Maintenance and Operations teams.
Develops and optimizes equipment strategies based on Asset Criticality and known failure modes and lead efforts to eliminate performance killers.
Reviews and recommends updates to spare parts strategies to optimize equipment availability.
Lead and/or participate in investigations and Failure Analysis to determine the root cause of failures and provide recommendations to mitigate current events and prevent failure recurrence.
Lead and/or participate in APM activities; (ACA & RCM); providing technical knowledge to identify equipment risks and create effective Risk Mitigation Strategies.
Lead inspection processes including planning, analyzing and reporting results. Develop and oversee mitigation plans as required.
Mentor engineers and crafts people performing the inspections and PdMs.
The Reliability Engineer gives advanced support for troubleshooting of PdM Data. He or she assists in the detecting and mitigation of early failures. Insure the site is using the appropriate strategies for each asset based on failure modes.
Analyze Inspection, PM and PdM Reports and initiate corrective action when required.
Develop Inspection Test Plans for projects and repairs that involve welding.
Lead complex RCA’s/ FMEA’s and implement associated actions.
Maintain all equipment, inspection and maintenance files.
Insure adequate spare parts are on a maintenance schedule of A&B Level Assets.
Participate in various capital improvement processes to insure reliability in design, standardization and lowest overall life cycle costs for all new assets.
Optimize spare parts inventory.
Own and oversee a 5 year to 10 year Capital Maintenance Plan based on ALA Analyses, Defined Maintenance Strategies and know equipment condition and risk.
Facilitates organizational effectiveness by modeling, reinforcing and coaching the elements of the Commitment Model and Critical Organizational Behaviors.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
BS/MS Degree in an Engineering discipline.
5 to 7 years’ experience in Petro-Chemical/Chemical Plant Environment with focus on operations, maintenance and capital improvements.
Working knowledge of Process & Production Safety Management.
Demonstrated experience with equipment inspection technologies and applications.
Working knowledge of Industrial Codes & Standards such as ASME, API, NEC, etc.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement long-term strategies focused on reliability improvement.
Working knowledge of Lean Concepts as they apply to manufacturing systems.
Demonstrated results working in facilitative environment.
Six Sigma Green Belt certified. Black Belt Certification a strong plus.
