What you’ll do
As a Software Engineer you will be the focal point for understanding and developing new engineering products and services.
You will provide technical leadership to an extended, multi-functional engineering team to apply a systems approach to the realisation of new information and control systems, or the modification of an existing one to meet all agreed stakeholder requirements, and plan and deliver verification programmes to ensure that Rolls-Royce's products meet business, customer and regulatory requirements.
You will be embedded within an engineering project, or in the core team, where you will lead the systems engineering approach across the engineering teams. As part of this role you will be expected to interface across a number of stakeholders within the company to extract and understand technical requirements and work alongside these stakeholders to develop potential solutions which can be used to serve business and customer needs.
As part of this new team you will be exploring and developing new system engineering practices within the company such as the use of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to assist in the understanding of potential business and technical architectures and solutions.
Responsibilities of the role include:
Developing the requirements of the in-house developed Universal Monitor and Control System (UMACS) and Data Acquisition System (DAS) to provide benefits across the Defence sector.
Lead efforts to identify and implement global standards within the Defence sector to enable efficiency improvements and expanded testing capability.
Support Test Facility improvements in the area of information technology and processing.
Applying technical principles, theories, and concepts to architect solutions to complex problems.
Ensure robust understanding of requirements and associated design of the system. Create an appropriate Enterprise/System architecture solution which serves both business and technical needs.
Ensure requirements are robustly validated and requirement maturity/risks understood and communicated to the project team.
What you’ll need
You will need a strong technical background and at a minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering), Computer Science, or Mathematics with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. In addition, you will need excellent communication skills, be driven to ask questions, seek novel solutions, and work well in a collaborative environment.
To be considered you must also be a U.S Citizen, Permanent Resident, or have permanent/indefinite work authorization. There is no visa sponsorship for this position.
