Furnace Design Engineer
The Thermal Process/Furnace Design Engineer is responsible for the design of product associated with thermal process projects and collaborates with program management, purchasing and field /shop/assembly teams on design projects to ensure professional engineering standards are maintained for all designs.
Duties & Responsibilities: All duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Use specialized software to create models and drawings of products.
Research new materials and methods of development.
Organize and maintain existing engineering records.
Construct prototypes and confirm designs with design/purchasing team.
Creates Bill of Material from drawings.
Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards.
Utilizes engineering principles and standard designs to develop project designs and layouts.
Works with Sales Engineer, Project Manager, Fabrication and Field Service groups.
Independently performs assignments after instructions as to the general results expected.
Receives guidance on unusual problems and supervisory approval on developed plans.
Performs conventional engineering work including standard designs.
Makes engineering calculations.
Develops elementary designs expanding on detailed schematic sketches.
Coordinates production and coordination with Senior Engineer/Designer or
Follow design templates when generating print sets
Following established health and safety policies and procedures.
Maintaining your personal work area in a clean and orderly manner.
Wearing, maintaining and properly storing your personal protective equipment (PPE).
Attending all safety training that your employer offers.
Volunteering to serve on your Safety Committee.
Using safe work practices to eliminate slips, trips and falls.
Lifting safely and helping others to do the same.
Labeling all chemical containers and becoming familiar with material safety data sheets.
Knowing evacuation procedures and the location of emergency equipment.
Manage personal time including vacation and sick time
Ability to travel up to 10% with potential additional travel
Education and Experiences
Design and drafting experience
Industrial Thermal process experience
Industrial furnace design (car bottoms, box, annealing, aluminum, forge, steel)
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
