About the Position: Serves as the Deputy Director, Environmental Laboratory (EL), U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), which is the only Laboratory in the Army entirely dedicated to environmental sciences and engineering.
This position may filled as Supervisory:
Assist the EL Director in managing execution of the Laboratory's program and, in the Director's absence, assumes his/her authority and duties.
Assist in overseeing execution of EL's research, development, engineering, applications, and demonstrations of environmental science and engineering for military and civil works customers through direct and reimbursable work programs and projects.
Responsible for developing and implementing EL business processes and policies, and manages EL assets.
The incumbent operates in five major areas including technical program execution, fiscal management, program administration, marketing and human capital.
Assist in the development of new and strategic research program areas in environmental science and engineering disciplines.
Review major technical proposals ensuring mission compliance, customer suitability, budgetary effectiveness and proper execution of resources.
Review of products (e.g. knowledge products, publications, briefings, technology) to ensure that they contribute to positively to the reputation of the Army and substantively advance the disciplines in EL's mission area.
Anticipates future requirements and demands for assets and resources and creates strategies to meet those requirements and demands when they arise.
Promotes diversity, equity, inclusiveness, and access in the workforce.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position, you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes leading a large multidisciplinary, multi-organization group engaged in research and development and major operational initiatives; and experience developing and implementing laboratory business processes and policies and managing laboratory assets. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DB-04 (GS-14).
In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.
