Geotechnical Engineer (5+ Years) – Geo-Science Engineering & Testing, LLC (GSET), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hershey-based ARM Group Inc. (ENR Top 500 Design Firm), is seeking a geotechnical engineer to join our growing 20+ person office adjacent to the Pocono region of northeastern PA. A short distance from dozens of beautiful mountain lakes, miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, and tens of thousands of acres of state forest and wilderness areas, this part of Pennsylvania has excellent public schools, is very safe, and offers a relatively low cost of living. Candidate must have a BS or MS in civil engineering (or related engineering major) with 5+ years of experience with emphasis in geotechnical engineering to work out of our northeastern PA office. A PE license in Pennsylvania is required with ability to gain reciprocity in bordering states. Position will support a wide range of projects requiring broad knowledge and experience in geotechnical engineering, including: shallow foundations; deep foundations; retaining structures; shoring; karst hazards; retention structures; slope stability; ground improvement techniques; and others. Knowledge of the geology of northeastern PA and surrounding areas is important. Experience with dam inspections, monitoring, rehab, and permitting is also desired. Past soils testing laboratory, construction inspection, and/or field testing experience (including nuclear density gauge, ACI certification, or GRI/GSI geosynthetics installation) preferred.
Qualified candidates must demonstrate proficient English verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills, strong work ethic, adaptability, and teamwork skills. The successful candidate will possess a positive attitude, an “ownership mentality”, an ability to establish client relationships, define client needs, develop winning strategies, prepare proposals and generate sales in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, as well as promote other ARM Group Inc. and GSET services.
