Bakken Overview

The Bakken is a large shale play located in the Williston Basin, which stretches across portions of eastern Montana and western North Dakota. The Bakken is one of the company’s three key growth areas within its Lower 48 business unit, with a development area covering approximately 620,000 net acres at the end of 2018. The company’s activities focus on unconventional tight oil play development and production in the most prolific portion of the basin. Operational and capital efficiencies continue to improve in the basin through the use of multi-well pad drilling, completion optimization, facility design changes and data analytics. In 2018, net production from the Bakken averaged 84 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Description

The Bakken Reservoir Performance & Operated by Other team is seeking a Base Reservoir Engineering to be a core contributor to the operated program which provides significant value to the asset. In the Williston Basin the Bakken asset continues to be a key part of the company portfolio as a low risk, cash generating asset with a proven track record. In 2019, the Bakken has 3 drilling rigs active toward continually growing the 800+ operated wells currently producing. With over a decade of remaining drilling inventory, Bakken is a well-established continuing asset within the Lower 48 portfolio.

Primary responsibility of this position will be to provide technical evaluations and recommendations for the Bakken base operated development program as well as manage the annual reserves efforts. The successful candidate will work in Houston with other team members.

Your responsibilities may include:
Delivery of accurate, clear and concise evaluations of investment decisions based on technically sound evaluations for workovers and optimization opportunities.
Collaborate across disciplines to identify opportunities to optimize base production performance.
Consistently seek ways to improve efficiency and tackle difficult problems by taking appropriate technical and financial risks in execution and planning phases of the workover program
Provide reserves forecasts for new and existing wells within assigned areas, following established reserves guidelines; assist in the analysis and lead roll-up of annual reserves
During annual reserves process, provide PDP forecasts for OBO wells based on SPE Monograph 3 guidelines.
Maintain MWD forecast for areas of responsibility.
Collaborate across the Asset Team to evaluate subsurface and well performance studies as well as leverage best practices along with incorporating insights from base well performance.
Collaborate with Land and Reservoir Performance teams on Minerals monetization efforts and support evaluation of lease offers.
Support LRP and outlook process as it relates to the Base.
Support Bakken program wide technical studies and/or initiatives.
Support post-audit reviews on workover projects and incorporate findings future evaluations and in the operated program.
Participate in annual lease reviews.
Optimize artificial lift performance through strong collaboration with Production and Facilities.
Lead data and forecasting excellence improvement initiatives.
Maintain and build upon functionality in Spotfire tools
Develop/champion new creative ideas and work programs to influence our Bakken business strategy
Mentor and lead others to commit to active learning and self-development
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing within Williston organization as well as through the URE to collaborate with other business units
Seek and share best practices with Bakken development, Drilling & Completions, Operations, Projects teams as well as other Lower 48 BUs and Global Unconventional teams

Qualifications

Basic/Required:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or foreign equivalent
3+ years direct experience as a Reservoir and/or Petroleum Engineer

Preferred:
Degree in Petroleum Engineering

Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
