Seagate Recording Head Operation is searching for an outstanding Wafer Sustaining Engineer to work at the Bloomington, MN on A, B, C or D shift. These hours are subject to change with or without notice at the sole discretion of Seagate.

In this position, you will have a terrific opportunity to train and gain exposure to all engineering disciplines, as well as Physics and Chemistry, utilized in our Wafer Manufacturing Facility, including: Photolithography, Vacuum Deposition/Etch, Plating, Integration, and Metrology (Measurement Systems).

You will continually enhance your problem solving and data analysis skill sets as you work to resolve daily product and factory issues. With the rapid pace of our technology development, you will rarely face the same problem twice!

The Wafer Sustaining Engineer will:
Perform daily troubleshooting and evaluation of suspect wafers and processes.

Work with process technicians, engineers, maintenance, and operations employees to resolve factory and product issues; often requires spending time in a Class 100 cleanroom.

Ensure proper passdown and process documentation is made and report to management of factory status including problems and potential problems.

Conduct SPC monitoring of tools, investigate scrap root causes, and address factory inhibitors.

Provide technician, trainer and operator training with manufacturing.

Review tool qualifications with equipment engineering.

Assist Research & Development teams with the advancement of technology.

Initiate and coordinate projects to improve manufacturing and wafer build efficiency.

Work with state of the art nanofabrication equipment.

Work with state of the art measurement instrumentation.

The Wafer Sustaining Engineering group brings together the fields/majors of Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Materials Science from a wide variety of Universities. We are looking for individuals that are interested in opportunity to up-skill. Specifically, Individuals with interest in developing and/or advancing skill sets in programming, statistics, nanofabrication, manufacturing, process engineering, CAD, Virtual Reality/3D Presentation, training or management. Individuals do not need have the skill set but should have an interest in the skill set. If you are looking for challenge and growth, then this position is for you!

About you:
BS degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or relevant studies/skillsets.
Position may require limited/occasional travel.
