POSITION: Manufacturing OperationsEngineer/Specialist

LOCATION: Emporia, Virginia

DEPARTMENT: Plant Supervisors

REPORTS TO: PlantManager

SUMMARY: This position drives our manufacturingoperations improvement. The role identifiesand executes improvements focused on material flow, information flow, plantlayout, load balancing, tools, fixtures, and material handling. This position directly affects the OSG productivity/efficiencyoperational goals.


o Monitor Daily Waste, Material/QuantityVariance, and Target quantities.

o Review weekly and monthly KPI Reports relatedto scheduling, waste, and efficiency

o Identifies improvement opportunities and implementssolutions

o Attend KPI meetings

o Provide capacity information to scheduling

o Identify manufacturing constraints anddevelop short and long term contingency plans

o Develop plant layouts that improveoperational efficiencies

o Provide backup coverage to the productionscheduler

o Use Movex ERP system to optimize routings,BOM, and Work Center data

o Other Goals and Projects as needed


· A Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalentexperience

· A minimum of 2 years of experience in an operations/productionrole required

· Experience with Lean Methodologies (6S, ValueStream Mapping, Kaizen, Etc.)

· APICS CPIM certification a plus

· Strong Team Player and Contributor with the ability to work on multipleprojects at one time

· Abilityto prioritize work in fast paced changing environment

· Proficientin Word, Excel, MRP, ERP, and Logistics
