Your Role:
We are currently seeking candidates for a Global Technology Co-op position to support our, Packaging Technology & Innovation team. This assignment will be for the Spring 2020 Semester and will be located at our Global Headquarters in Perrysburg, OH. As a Co-op at O-I, you will be offered challenging and diverse opportunities while being supported through a structured learning and development program, with access to a variety of on the job activities, networking and social activities.

Your Co-op experience with O-I will provide challenges, broaden your exposure to our industry and our organization, and give you a strong foundation in engineering. As you continue to grow, you’ll take on more independent work, acquire a skill set that contributes to your group’s success, and help shape our future.

What you will do on a day-to-day basis:
Under the direction of other engineers, this position supports the Packaging Technology & Innovation team within the Global Technology group, and contributes by providing support for a new technology in development on the path to commercialization. Tasks are assigned based on capability and stretch goals for the Co-Op Engineering Student.

This position performs a broad range of design, fabrication, testing and data entry functions. These initiatives contribute to O-I’s desire for speed to market and protected intellectual property. While your specific duties may vary, you can expect to do the following:

Work with lab technicians and engineers to conduct tests and collect data for further analysis.
Facilitate lab test method development and functional testing including data analysis and technical reporting.
Generate and stimulate ideas through brainstorm participation, concept development and execution of learning plans to meet project objectives.
Design and model using 3D CAD software
Manage our on-site 3D printer
Ability to learn basic intellectual property protection techniques, manufacturing processes and techniques, and project management skills.
Support engineers where needed to make the best use of time and resources.
Collect and ship prototypes and glass samples to all regions around the world with an awareness of international regulations and restrictions.
Approach all tasks with attention to detail and a desire to learn.

Position Requirements:
About You:
Sophomore or junior in an engineering or design discipline.
Knowledge of fundamental engineering principles, design principles, basic calculations and data analysis
Willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment
Knowledge or course work in 3D design is a plus but not required
Strong interpersonal skills: Well-spoken, professional demeanor. Able to interact with all levels of the organization including management and non-technical staff.
