The Materials Division of the Army Research Laboratory is currently recruiting masters-level scientists and engineers for research positions. Candidates with a bachelors degree in engineering, physics or materials science and research experience will also be considered. All branches of science and engineering will be considered, although individuals with materials, mechanics, mechanical engineering, and chemical engineering backgrounds are preferred.
This position is open for U.S. citizens only
Job Description : This position will be heavily involved in the preparation and nanomechanical characterization of 2D materials and their composites. Novel heterostructures, composites, and functionalization of these materials will be explored.
Desired Experience: Experience with composites or nanomechanical characterization (such as atomic force microscopy, nanoindentation, micro tensile testing etc.) is desired. Experience with sSynthesis and preparation of samples of 2D materials (such as graphene, molybdenum disulfide and other TMDs) including experience with transfer, thin polymer coatings, and characterization is beneficial.
About ARL: The mission of the Army Research Laboratory is to perform basic and applied research enabling new technologies for Army soldier, vehicle, and weapon systems. Tasks range from prototype design and fabrication to fundamental studies in materials and physics. We encourage our postdoctoral candidates to publish their work frequently in public, peer-reviewed journal publications.
