Job description
Seeking new graduate engineers to support upstream production operations in Eastern Canada. The selected individuals will work in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Applicants are eligible for this position if they are graduating university students (2020) or if they are recent graduates with less than three years of relevant work experience since graduation.

Potential positions could include:
Production Engineer
  • Interact with operations, maintenance and other engineers to collaboratively address key technical and business priorities
  • Assisting field operations in solving technical problems
  • Analyzing options for improving production and interfacing with field operations to ensure optimization and production data
  • Computer modeling of oil, gas, and water piping networks and facilities
  • Facilitating scoping, cost estimating, scheduling and execution of facilities projects
  • Implementing effective solutions to health, safety, and environmental issues
  • Participating in Hazard and Operability Studies and other risk analyses
Facility Integrity Focused Engineer
  • Support effective implementation, application and continuous improvement of the Facility Integrity Management Program at ExxonMobil Canada East
  • Interact with operations, maintenance and other engineering technical staff to collaboratively address key technical and business priorities
  • Identify improvement opportunities, articulate technical/business challenges, and provide technical solutions
  • Complete engineering studies to address reliability/integrity issues; facilitate scoping, cost estimating, scheduling and execution of identified opportunities
  • Implementing effective solutions to health, safety, and environmental issues
  • Participating in Hazard and Operability Studies and other risk analyses
Project Engineer
  • Coordinate, monitor and manage project and contractors performance and progress to ensure achievement of project objectives, deliverables, milestones and cost / schedule commitments
  • Coordinate field execution with construction and operations, including safety, quality, cost and schedule control aspects
  • Steward management of change, AFEs, Contracts, and purchase orders throughout project execution and coordinate close out activities
  • Ensure proper handover of projects to operations and maintenance, including coordination of training, documentation, materials and maintenance deliverables
  • Establishes / coordinates organizational and project management system review requirements such as progress reports, updates, project reviews (Gate, Checkpoints, HAZOPS, constructability, operations & maintenance); stewarding findings / actions to closure
  • Implementing effective solutions to health, safety, and environmental issues
Subsurface Engineer
  • Reviewing and evaluating wells to identify opportunities to improve production or lower costs
  • Generating well cost estimates for performing remedial/diagnostic wellwork
  • Developing models to better understand well performance
  • Assisting wellwork operations in real-time technical problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Implementing effective solutions to health, safety, and environmental issues
  • Participating in Hazard and Operability Studies and other risk analyses
Drilling Engineer
  • Real-time monitoring of active drill wells, including cost/time performance, drilling fluid properties, directional profile progress and torque/drag
  • Analyzing and optimizing various drilling rig components
  • Modeling of drilling fluid networks and facilities
  • Assisting drilling operations in real-time technical problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Implementing effective solutions to health, safety and environmental issues
  • Evaluating drilling alternatives and proposal of recommended practices
  • Working with Reservoir Engineers and Geoscientists to develop the most economic options for new well designs
  • Participating in Hazard and Operability Studies and other risk analyses
Reservoir Engineer
  • Surveillance and monitoring of reservoir performance
  • Identify opportunities to enhance asset performance and reservoir simulation
  • Support on-going regulatory compliance
  • Provide input to the annual Asset Level Business Plan and Technical Shareholder meetings
  • Interface with external groups including Geoscience and Drilling on continued reservoir definition
  • Optimize well paths through well design and approvals
Qualifications

Academic:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Process or another accredited engineering discipline in Canada within the last three years (Spring 2020 Graduates are welcome to apply)
Other:
  • Strong communication skills, including interface with internal and external stakeholders and contractors
  • Commitment to safety on and off the job
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work with a minimal supervision and in a team-based environment
  • Previous petroleum industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills
  • Initiative, independence and accountability for tasks and understanding impacts on the business
