PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Support and develop team decision-making allowing the team itself to become dedicated to continuous improvement while ensuring inventory accuracy, safe handling of material and finished goods, team member efficiency, and on time delivery and availability of material to production lines.
Ensure optimal performance of warehouse equipment and escalate any deficiencies in equipment (forklifts, warehouse mobile scanners, computers, etc)
Ensure material handling processes and layouts are set up in a manner that promotes a safe environment.
Ensure material handling team members have the resources needed to execute job requirements safely and accurately.
Work closely with local vendors to manage consistent flow of material for JIT replenished material.
Eliminate part shortages to production lines, by escalating issues to material planning teams and communicating corrective action to production teams.
Ensure on time delivery of finished goods to the distribution center and interplant delivery of purchased components.
Assigns off line tasks such as attendance, safety audit compliance, and data entry for part shortages.
Accountable for the team's achievement of goals concerning inventory accuracy and material handling efficiency.
Implement corrective action to any and all inventory inaccuracy issues.
Work with Industrial Engineers and Manufacturing Leadership to ensure efficient material flow, eliminating unnecessary waste.
Provide input as needed when equipment is purchased or upgraded.
Responsible for creating, training and implementing standard work to maintain consistent execution of Material Handling/Material Planning business process.
Responsible to lead and develop team members and provide meaningful feedback on team member performance.
Responsible for continuous improvement and ensure the sharing of best practices throughout Material Handling Operations.
Use technical training to make improvements involving team members in the development and implementation of new material handling processes.
Maintain certification and competence on all tasks required of the team while supporting daily operations.
4 year supply chain, engineering, business, or related degree preferred.
Basic PC skills preferred.
Ability to learn and perform all responsibilities of the material handler.
Good communications skills (oral and written) to effectively communicate with team members.
Intense personal commitment to communicate company policy and develop a team culture.
