Zaber Technologies (www.zaber.com) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in manufacturing, design, and automation to join our Production Engineering team. The Production Engineering team strives to provide high quality support for our production processes and also develops assembly and manufacturing equipment, optimises and automates production processes, and manages aspects of production including our quality control systems. As a member of the Production Engineering team, you will use your skills to help us improve the quality, reliability, and profitability of our products.

This position allows a high degree of flexibility and we are looking for someone with a broad set of technical and management skills who will identify and capitalize on opportunities to improve our products and processes. You will work closely with our product development and production teams on bringing new products into production, including designing and building assembly jigs and equipment as well as improving and automating existing processes.

Responsibilities

As a Production Engineer, you will have the opportunity to identify, analyze, and implement solutions for a wide range of manufacturing challenges. Your responsibilities will include:

Performing cost-benefit analyses
Analyzing and developing processes
Troubleshooting
3D modeling
Sourcing parts
In-house fabrication
Integrating processes
Designing and building production equipment
Qualifications
Experience in a manufacturing environment (bonus points if you also have experience in product design).
Team player with great communication skills who can find creative solutions by engaging with multiple different groups.
Excellent mechanical aptitude. Comfortable fixing things and making things, using tools and working with your hands.
Experience using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
Degree/diploma in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or systems engineering.

Ideally, you will also have experience in the following areas:

Machining and metal fabrication
Introducing new products and working with change processes
Technical writing
Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Workplace ergonomics
BOMs and/or an ERP system
Statistical Process Control (SPC) or other quality initiatives
Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)
Programming in Python or SQL
Integration of mechanical and electrical components (switches, sensors, actuators, pneumatics, etc.)
COVID-19 Considerations

Employee safety is our top priority. Due to the pandemic, we currently have a mix of people working from home and working onsite, with those working onsite following the recommendations laid out by Worksafe BC. As long as the situation remains stable, we would like you to physically come into the office for 3 to 4 days a week for the first 4 months to allow for effective onboarding. After this, you may choose to work from home more often, but this role will require some on-site time each week.
