Jet Support Services, Inc. (JSSI) is seeking a well-qualified Junior Reports Developer. This position can be performed remotely or from our Chicago Corporate Headquarters.
The mission of the Junior Report Developer is to be a technical expert on the IT team who will be responsible for analysis, design, development, implementation of analytical and business intelligence reporting solutions for JSSI, and to ensure integrity of data. In addition, the Report Developer will be engaging in various customer-facing tasks such as basic requirements-gathering and must be able to provide effective reporting solutions for presented issues. This role will involve daily communications with both IT & non-IT staff; therefore a diverse range of communication styles must be present. Providing technical guidance on a regular basis is also required. The candidate should have SQL skills and ability to utilize a variety of reporting tools, such as Microsoft Reporting Services and Power BI.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a full suite of BI reporting products that provide real business value and improve information worker efficiency in a complex database environment comprised of SQL Server 2008/2016 and Azure SQL relational databases.
Support a wide range of users from Analyst to Executive Management roles, by responding quickly to user needs and developing report products in a timely manner.
Analyze requirements and interact with users and designers to determine the data sets required to meet the users' needs.
Build efficient, parameterized SQL queries and stored procedures to produce output data sets, evaluating the technology available, and selecting the best report format and delivery medium.
Apply effective aesthetic report design to maximize informational value.
Innovating to improve the company's ability to rapidly deploy new report products and analytical tools in an environment of continual technological change and increasing end-user sophistication.
Develop a systematic approach to flexible reporting based on dynamic run-time conditions that minimizes amount of new report development for small changes in report functionality integrating technological improvements into a managed set of reporting products.
Implement best practices to reduce maintenance overhead and complexity.
Work with BI and application teams to identify potential improvements to data warehouse or enterprise application systems to better meet user analytical and reporting needs.
Develop reporting products using SQL Server 2008 SSRS base technology for end-users.
Develop reporting products using MS Power BI base technology for end-users.
Manage inventory & documentation of reports.
Follow change control procedures for modifying and deploying reports.
Analyze user requirements and iterate with designers and users to produce high-performance, high-value reporting products.
Assist with evaluating new technology for creating and delivering report products.
Assist with analyzing data integrity within all SQL databases.
Review and troubleshoot day-to-day data support issues.
Assist Senior BI Report Developer as required.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience:
BA/BS in Computer Science or a related degree, or equivalent education and work experience
2 - 3 years of Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2016, T-SQL or equivalent
2 - 3 years of SQL 2005/2008 SRS Reporting Services
Experience with installing and developing OLTP/OLAP/Data Warehousing
Experience in developing and maintaining BI Dashboards, Scorecards and Performance reports
Experience with Visual Studio 2008 BI or equivalent development
Experience with analyzing requirements from business users
Experience with analyzing data integrity
Experience with MS Excel, MS Access
Thorough understanding of relational database concepts
Strong communication skills
Reporting design skills
