Oasis Systems has an exciting opportunity for a full time Senior Communications Engineer to support maritime systems testing in San Diego, CA
LOCATION: Navy Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC-PAC), San Diego, CA
JOB STATUS: Full time
TRAVEL: Some travel may be required
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligible for Secret clearance
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Three years of experience as a communications technician as a DoD contractor and/or during active duty service member. A college degree in a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or technical training can be substituted for 4 years of experience
Three years of experience operating and maintaining afloat military communications systems.
Three years’ experience planning and managing military communications circuits, including production of Communications Plans, satellite channel assignments, and LINK networks.
Network and Systems admin experience with the above indicated networks.
Experience handling and managing cryptographic systems.
Secret security clearance.
Support planning and managing military communications circuits, including production of Communications Plans, satellite channel assignments, and LINK networks.
Coordinate Navy communicators for military satellite channel access, Fleet communications plans, LINK assignments, and frequency de-confliction
Manage cryptographic equipment and crypto.
Coordinate with Navy COMSEC managers as required. Manage shipboard and shore-based communications and LINK systems.
Obtain and manage commercial satellite communications leases
Provide professional subject matter expertise with acquisition, procurement, and integration of satellite communications systems on experimental unmanned surface vessels.
Provide direction to other less experienced technicians, may act as team leader or working group leader.
Obtain and manage satellite communications circuits and LINK-16 assignments.
Assist with achieving and maintaining Information Assurance (IA) security certification for shipboard communications systems connected to military networks.
Troubleshoot and correct communications problems.
Assist with at-sea testing on military vessels.
Documented recent experience operating, maintaining, and installing mobile based military grade satellite terminals accessing DoD and US government networks: ADNS - Automated Digital Network System, NIPRNet - Non-Classified Internet Protocol Router Network, CANES - Consolidated Afloat Network and Enterprise Services, SIPRENT - The Secret Internet Protocol Router Network
Eight or more years of experience as a technician operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing military grade communications terminals, voice, line of site, and satellite. Be able to show that this experience is relevant and gained within the last 3 years.
3 years of experience with civilian and military network architecture as a systems administrator and/or engineer.
Proven experience with Linux based operating systems.
Linux Professional Institute certification
At-sea testing may sometimes require up to 75-hour work weeks.
