The Manager of Product Development and Applications Engineer plays a critical role within the company, functioning as the primary technical resource for the field sales force, with responsibility for actively driving and managing the team who is responsible for the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the sales team, the Manager of Product Development and Applications Engineering serves as the key technical advisor and product advocate, and is responsible for identifying and providing reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete client satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.
This hands-on role consists of surveying prospective opportunities and working with customers to define requirements, create high-level designs and prepare proposals for custom battery systems. Application of solutions may cross all business verticals, including Defense (domestic and global), marine, mining and industrial (including but not limited to telecommunication and medical).
Duties and responsibilities
Maintain an expert level product knowledge and application
Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users
Listen, understand and convey customer requirements
Work with customers and the sales team to define system level requirements for battery systems
Provide design and specification development support
Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts and correspondence in company approved databases
Create proposals for battery systems with an emphasis on customer economic value drivers, technical differentiation and market distinction.
Assist with commissioning of battery systems, including travel to project sites to perform start-up, integration and training services
Provide customer technical support for fielded battery systems
Resolve customer issues and difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company’s mission, values and financial objectives
Maintain professional business relationships within target accounts
Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects
Identify customer needs and sales opportunities to facilitate future growth
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and office software applications.
Travel can be expected domestically and internationally, at times for extended durations.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferable electrical, mechanical engineering, physics computer engineering or chemistry)
Experience – 0 to 5 years of relevant experience. Levels of responsibility will be adjusted based upon the employee’s aptitude and demonstrated abilities
Excellent ability to adapt and learn quickly
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and abilities to work with external and internal teams
Strong business acumen and critical thinking skills
