We are searching for a highly skilled and talented Automation Engineer, Virtual Commissioning. In this role, you will develop and support the virtual commissioning of systems of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls for a variety of applications including hard tool welding, robotic welding and material handling, conveyance and transfer systems.
As the Automation Engineer, Virtual Commissioning, you will develop a simulated environment that represents the controls and robotic hardware of a system, and allows that system to be controlled by a physical PLC. You will support automation engineers in the debug of the system to ensure software readiness prior to commissioning on the shop floor.
We are looking for experienced candidates who will:
Understands customer specifications (corporate and plant) and standards for use in developing simulated hardware components and systems.
Researches, develops and customizes new hardware and software interfaces.
Must be capable of developing simulated system structure and components from scratch.
Utilizes existing customer and internal standards as well as references from previous projects to develop and customize all required application specific components (i.e. Logic blocks, smart components).
Coordinate and review with Controls Project Engineer, Controls Technical Leaders, and colleagues to maintain consistency within a given project.
Review hardware schematics and software programs for implementation into simulated environment.
Develop and/or modify robotic OLP commands and macros.
Develop material flow to simulate and properly control product appearances within the system.
Works within the scope definition and timing (due date) requirements.
Supports virtual commissioning and debugging for intermediate to complex machine applications.
