SUMMARY

As a Senior Civil Engineer (Marine) you will be involved in marine and offshore projects from concept design to site project performance. You will oversee project design, lead modifications, support to tender processes, construction methods advise and solve engineering problems and challenges.

Belonging to the Marine Works Department based in Madrid (Spain) and reporting to the Head of Marine Works, the Senior Civil Engineer (Marine) will be hired by gGravity Engineering Inc. and could be located in New York or Miami, but availability to travel through the USA and Canada is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist on maritime, coastal and offshore projects, examples include: breakwaters, berthing structures, dredging and offshore wind farms
Accountable for overseeing project design activities developed by a consultant to ensure compliance with company construction methodologies
Ensure consultant project deliverables and maintain project schedule
Ensure opportunities for optimization are investigated, evaluated and implemented to ensure best value for the company
Develop design briefs, analysis reports and other technically related documents
Identify risks during project and construction phases
Coordinate with other design disciplines within gGravity such as geotechnical, hydraulic, planning and construction methods when needed
Provide inputs into proposals for maritime & coastal projects
Undertake preparation of construction documentation, such as technical specifications, request for proposals, design reports and construction schedules
Review and resolve client’s comments during tender process
Conduct feasibility analysis on foundation typologies for offshore wind farm projects
Assist the company with Client relationships, presentations and Business Development Technical Competencies
Review and approve all deliverables prior to submission to client
Prepare and submit modification proposals to project during construction
Interaction with specialized subcontractors, suppliers and equipment vendors
Assist the construction manager on marine works production rates, methodologies, equipment and activities scheduling according to marine weather conditions
Perform other related duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering (or related field)
5 - 10 years of maritime & coastal works experience
PE or PEng License
Familiarity with technical standards and developments within the marine works industry
Knowledge in coastal design and breakwater formulations
Experience in marine weather analysis, marine structural design procedures, and stability calculations
Experience with offshore wind foundations design procedures and load exchanges
Experience in preparation of construction drawings and specifications
Familiarity with offshore codes (API, DNV, IEC, ABS) and certification processes
Excellent writing and communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Organizational ability – able to plan, prioritize, organize and monitor activities and projects
Flexible to travel around the USA and overseas to Europe
Preferred

Knowledge and experience with, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Project
Familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering
Proven experience of contributing to early development projects (large projects), giving advice to development teams on conceptual engineering solutions, build ability / delivery issues
