As a Interdisciplinary General Engineer/ Architect/ Civil Engineer/Mechanical Engineer at the GS-0801/0808/0810-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Serves as a general engineering and facility planning expert and provides professional advice, guidance and direction to the Chief of Engineering and other staff on all facilities engineering and base operations engineering and support issues effecting the organization and its worldwide real property asset portfolio.
- Develops contacts within installations, garrison staffs, and executing agents in the geographic support areas.
- Leads the project team with responsibility for assessing and managing requirements, program planning and concept designs by applying engineering and scientific principles.
- Develops and implements procedures and techniques necessary for project assessment and planning.-Prepares, monitors, and evaluates integrated plans, programs and time-phased schedules for assigned efforts and directs, coordinates, and monitors the overall engineering efforts of organizations providing support.
- Assists in the developing, management and support of the overall facilities program and tracks the planning, programming, budgeting and execution of projects.
- Acts as the primary evaluator for assessing new technology insertion, to include project management for evaluation, vendor or developer selection, delineation of acquisition strategies, and establishing initial project budgets and projected timelines.

You may qualify at the GS -13 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
- Planning, organizing, and directing activities ensuring that drafting and surveying duties comply with legal and regulatory guidance; managing resources normally to meet the needs of staff and customers and ensure actions are effective and legal and regulatory compliance issues and/or customer concerns are promptly identified and addressed.
- Developing agency policies and procedures on data collection and analysis
- Reviewing the development of innovative data collection techniques and/or analysis.
- Creating innovative standards, design procedures, and construction specifications where none exist; and performing reviews and approval of designs for the most complex or high impact/visibility projects.

CRITICAL ACQUISITION POSITION (CAP):
This is an Acquisition, Engineering Workforce Critical Acquisition Position (CAP) in the Engineering career field. The incumbent is required to become certified, Level II in the applicable career field within 24 months, unless a Position Requirements waiver is approved to extend the 24 months. The incumbent must meet requirements for membership in the DoD Acquisition corps immediately upon assuming the position unless a position requirements waiver is approved. The incumbent is required to sign a written agreement to remain in this CAP for a minimum of 3 years. The incumbent must obtain a minimum of 80 continuous learning points (CLPs) for every 2 year CLP period, with a goal of at least 40 annually
CRITICAL ACQUISITION POSITION (CAP). Selectee for this position will be required to sign a written agreement to remain, for a minimum of three years, in the federal service in this critical acquisition position.
