The EMS Verification Engineer II is a member of the Electro-Mechanical System (EMS) organization. The primary objective of EMS is to develop new dynamic electro-mechanical products, and prove feasibility of the technology through laboratory and customer related demonstrations.
This position will be responsible for performing test and development engineering functions. It includes working together with Product and Project Leads to plan and implement Qualification and Production Testing. Functions will include translating customer system and subsystem requirements into plans and procedures to implement and report test results. Testing will be varied and can involve Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Software disciplines.
Perform dynamic system test on complex electro-mechanical system to include translating customer system and sub-system test requirements into plans and procedures for mechanical, electrical and /or software testing.
Works with project leads to plan and implement qualification and production testing processes.
Prepare test reports on results of mechanical, electrical and or software test to verify performance or needed improvements
Designs and conducts experimentation in the lab, including but not limited to operation of various dynamic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, frequency analyzers, waveform generators, power amplifiers, etc.
Responsible for Safety-of-Flight (SoF) Test and Qualification tests. This includes plans and procedures creation, risk-reduction testing, test-for-credit, and report generation for certification purposes.
Designs, develops and troubleshoots specialized fixtures and devices for test set-ups when required
Experience with solid modeling, with preference being Autodesk Inventor.
Experience creating /reviewing drawings with a working knowledge of geometric dimensioning.
Occasional travel for testing and training required.
Ability to lift and move fixtures, test devices, test equipment occasionally.
Possess expert knowledge of engineering tools, methods and processes.
Demonstrate ability to implement complex electro-mechanical testing.
Excellent technical and non-technical written skills
Possess strong communication skills.
Ability to identify problems, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
2+ years of experience with electro-mechanical device testing, or development.
Other comparable combination of education and experience.
Experience writing test procedures, using laboratory equipment such as data acquisition equipment, and writing test reports.
Digital signal processing and controls experience for microcontrollers and /or FPGA’s.
Experience with entire product lifecycle, from research to product launch.
Demonstrate experience with vibration analysis and/or testing, preferably using MATLAB/Simulink
Demonstrate automated production test development, preferably using LabVIEW /test stand
Understanding of aerospace system per ARP4754A
Understanding of aerospace standards DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MUL- STD-461, DO178, and DO256
Experience with aerospace , preferably helicopters and fixed wing aircraft
Experience with sensors or fly-by-wire control systems.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics and/or Computer Science
Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics and/or Computer Science
Fluent in English
Understanding of other languages (French, German, Italian, Russian, and/or Korean)
