Phillips-Medisize, LLC is seeking a Cost Estimation Engineer to support new business quoting and on-going customer business.
Phillips-Medisize Global Innovation and Development is an end-to-end provider of innovation, development, and manufacturing solutions serving medical device, pharmaceutical, diagnostics, and specialty commercial industries. Cost Estimation Engineers play a key role in securing new business for Phillips-Medisize. This position will interact with all areas of the company, including Sales, Engineering, Finance, and Management, as well as Executive Management.
Cost Estimation Engineers lead coordination across all engineering disciplines to develop initial project strategy, develop, prepare, and present competitive proposals. The Cost Estimation Engineer will partner with Business Development Mangers early in the customer relationship development process, and will collaborate with project managers and various engineering disciplines to prepare business proposals that generate value for the Company, customers, and end users of products we develop for manufacture.
Cost Estimation Engineers provide technical guidance and direction to Project Engineers regarding specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, and/or processes related to the specified program. The Cost Estimation Engineer will also be responsible for obtaining lessons learned after work has begun to continually improve the cost estimation process.

Participate in new opportunity meetings with Business Opportunity Manager and Business Development Manager to gain strategic insight into potential quote requests, project assumptions, and risk
Select appropriate team to facilitate quotation activity and work with management to identify initial project strategy utilizing the Global Innovation and Development center’s Design and Development Process (DDP)
Work across multiple engineering disciplines and site locations to gather data, accurately input, and develop a Cost Workbook in collaboration with the project team to indicate cost assumptions and sources
Utilize intracompany sourcing contacts to obtain supplier and vendor proposals / pricing
Perform complex analysis of collected data, including reconciling between different revisions and phases of a project and risks
Report and present project cost data for company assets, resources and processes to peers, management, Business Development Manager, executives, and ultimately the client team
Gain a deep understanding of company financials
Generate proposals which create superior value for the company, customers and end users to make Koch the preferred partner of customers, employees, suppliers, communities and other important constituencies.
Lead project kickoff meetings to bring the selected project team current with intent, strategy and financials of the project
Actively participate in meetings as required to remain an active part of project planning and overall program success
Actively participate in continuous improvement/innovation, and corrective actions
Quality and confidentiality is of utmost importance, and adherence to company quality policy is expected at all times
Continually foster excellent relationships with internal / external customers
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Finance/Accounting, Business, Health Sciences, or:
Minimum of five years technical manufacturing, finance or technical service experience with a working knowledge of manufacturing and/or design processes
Skills and Abilities:
Previous experience in an FDA regulated injection molding environment
Experience in the medical device industry with knowledge of front-end sales processes
CRM documentation within Microsoft Dynamics or SalesForce
Experience with CAD and/or SolidWorks
Ability to manage and maintain several projects
Highly organized and able keep timelines intact
Manage work processes with integrity and respect for all cross-functional team members
Excellent written, documentation and presentation skills
Willingness to continually learn new processes, collaborate, and respectfully challenge to transform our business
Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
