Senior Environmental Engineer (Remote, No location)

The Senior Environmental Engineer will report to the Director, Environmental Compliance and Programs.
Identify best practices and support continuous improvement initiatives to assure compliance, minimize the environmental risks of our operations, and manage environmental impacts.
Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, mentoring and 'boots on the ground' support to plant personnel on environmental and sustainability initiatives and necessary changes.
Perform environmental audits and inspect facilities and processes to identify and correct potential issues, and to ensure regulatory compliance.
Assist with the development and implementation of specialized environmental initiatives.
Develop, conduct and/or coordinate worker training in areas such as environmental laws and regulations, aspect and impact recognition, EHS leadership, and use of EHS processes.
Investigate, or assist in investigating environmental incidents to determine causes, and appropriate corrective and preventative measures.
Provide direct support to Environmental Director in the development and deployment of environmental and sustainability initiatives.
Provide project management of remediation activities and environmental site assessments. Oversee contractors to ensure adherence to federal, state, local and Hydro requirements.
Develop and maintain budgets to ensure cost-effective and timely results.
Provide support and recommend enhancements to environmental management systems.
Minimum 5-7 years of environmental compliance experience. Industrial safety and health experience a plus.
BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
Must possess the skill set to manage environmental projects, programs and make presentations. Strong computer skills required. Good knowledge of US environmental laws (CAA, RCRA, CWA, SDWA, CERCLA, TSCA, DOT) required. Understanding of Canadian law is a positive.
Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate on all levels. Must be willing to travel up to 70%. OHSAS 18001 / ISO 14001 experience required. PE, CHMM or CEM plus but not required.
