Works as leader or member of cross functional team to successfully design, plan and execute projects within the assigned area of responsibility. Plans and executes engineering projects including defining the project scope and purpose, activities, milestones and staff requirements. Develops and maintains a schedule and budget for the assigned engineering project. Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly. Controls expenditures within limitations of the project budget.
Identifies in-house customer requirements, operational needs, maintenance issues and coordinates with supporting departments to meet project objectives. Oversees and assigns project personnel, contractors and consultants to specific phases or aspects of the project. This may include overseeing or conducting the technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, technical plans, start-up and testing.
Develops project deliverables, design documents and bid packages. Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, Company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications. Coordinates activities involving technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems. Directs integration of technical activities and products. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
Secures contractual bids based on engineering specifications, federal or state governmental regulations, and best practices, estimated project costs and timing. Supervises contractor and/or in-house construction, engineering, and/or vendor personnel and activities, especially pertaining to production plant outage requirements. Conducts safety audits and maintains safe work environment for plant personnel and outside contractors responsible for the completion of projects.
Must possess thorough understanding and knowledge of engineering principles. Must be analytical and detail oriented. Must possess ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects or phases of a project simultaneously. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment and involve others in team approach. Must possess computer skills including CAD experience. Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline with 3-5+ years of related experience desirable.
