Engineer Trainee (Electrical)*, NS-18:
Applicants must have a qualifying*** bachelor’s degree or higher, OR proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) and at least one year of full-time engineering experience in electrical systems.
Assistant Engineer (Electrical), Grade 20:
Applicants must have proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE), AND either: a qualifying*** bachelor’s degree or higher OR at least one year of full-time engineering experience in electrical systems.
- Upon successful completion of at least one year of the traineeship and passing the FE exam, trainees may be advanced to the Assistant Engineer (Electrical), Grade 20. Trainees who do not obtain their FE by the end of the two-year traineeship will be removed from the Trainee position.

Duties DescriptionThe Assistant Engineer (Electrical) will work in the Office of Resilience and Emergency Preparedness and perform engineering duties related to electrical systems projects including, but not limited to:
- Assisting in the thorough and accurate review of capital improvement budgets and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) programs.
- Taking part in the monitoring and tracking of actual spending versus planned capital and O&M budgets, including identifying reasons for variances.
- Assisting in the analyzing, investigating, and evaluating of reliability and power quality for annual utility filings.
- Representing the Department and participating in site visits in coordination with supervisors in a professional manner and developing good working relationships with companies.
- Assisting in the analyzing, investigating, and evaluating of reliability and resilience.
- Assisting, as needed, with the investigation of incidents and customer complaint issues based on internal or external requests and taking part in monitoring and tracking the implementation of investigation recommendations.
