Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. Work in the engineering department providing product support to operations, sales, marketing, and customer service through support of existing products, modifications, and design of new products. Work within engineering to meet goals and objectives of the department and the Enclosures Business Unit.
Duties and Responsibilities
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support existing products.
Research and develop ideas for new products and processes.
Improve upon the design, performance, and cost of existing products and processes.
Design, model, and test new products and modifications.
Recommend, initiate, and lead process improvement programs.
Support all engineering functions as required.
Write procedures for testing, fabricating, and manufacturing of products and product assemblies.
Skills and Experience
4-year degree in Engineering. Composite, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering degree preferred
5 or more years of product development and design or related field
Experience with either Solidworks or Inventor desired
Experience working with plastic injection molding, glass reinforcement.
Experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of quality/continuous improvement initiatives
Excellent MS Office applications skills
Solid analytical skills, Excellent communication skills
Ability to work well with others
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering General
