In this early career role, you will be performing engineering activities on projects or segments of medium to large projects under the close supervision and mentorship of experienced engineers.
Execute daily activities with a constant focus upon safety, including following safe work practices to ensure personal safety; make safety suggestions, participate in pre-job safety briefings, and considers safety during project execution and specification development
Assist in the preparation of various plans, designs, drawings, specifications, estimates, studies, schedules, recommendations, contracts and reports associated with the implementation of small to medium sized projects
Consult with engineers, manufacturers, and others in investigating operations and maintenance issues of plant equipment
Evaluate, monitor, direct and manage outside contractors, consultants and vendors
Assist with the preparation of plant operations and maintenance performance reports, cost analysis, asset maintenance plans, asset optimization activities; provide recommendations based on analysis
Support generation and balance of plant operations and maintenance activities, assists with the preparation of design specs
Gather data and prepare technical reports, charts, and graphs; apply engineering principles in the reporting and solution of engineering problems
Maintain records of activities and prepare reports on tests, research projects, and operational characteristics of machinery and equipment and their impact on plant performance
Review system drawings and as-built plant systems with the purpose of identifying discontinuity of documentation and carries through to correction of documents
Assist with conducting studies and preparing reports concerning electrical production, supply and load growth by collecting and analyzing data such as population trends, economics, and other factors to determine the feasibility of future power projects and transmission systems
Manage small to medium sized projects from problem definition to delivery
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
Engineering theories, techniques and procedures
Federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to individual departments
Project management principles and practices
Critical thinking and analysis
Communicating with all levels within the organization as well as with the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction

What will it take to be successful? Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably with a focus in Mechanical Engineering with 6 months to 2 years related experience. A registration as an Engineer-in-Training / FE with the Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is preferred.
