Incorporated over 25 years ago, our Client is expanding to the USA! It’s time to add a superstar to their team as they open the doors to their US Location somewhere on or near the Great Lakes!
This company specializes in the sales, service, installation, and integration of marine electronic systems for commercial and military vessels.
As the representative for several internationally recognized marine systems manufacturers, they are well-respected and established as the leading supplier to the Canadian marine industry, and can offer its customers comprehensive state-of-the-art products.
This is a hands-on position. We need a self motivated and enthusiastic team member to help establish the company in the USA.
Field Service Engineer
Responsibilities:
Install, repair and maintain navigation and communication equipment on vessels.
Load and update of manufacturer’s software, backup computers, data retrieval.
Use their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems.
Inspect, adjust, align, replace or repair electronic equipment, assemblies, and components following equipment manuals and schematics, using soldering tools, hand and power tools as well as electronic test instruments.
Fill out company service report and documentation.
Work under limited supervision.
Requirements:
Proven experience in the marine industry and knowledge of navigation equipment such as: Radar, Gyrocompass, Autopilot, ECDIS, GMDSS etc.
Strong knowledge of electronics theory and applications.
Basic AC/DC electrical theory.
Able to use DVM, oscilloscope, and other test equipment.
Advanced knowledge of proper repair and installation techniques.
Meet with clients to discuss terms of service, scheduling, and logistical concerns.
Conduct the necessary repairs or installations and test thoroughly to ensure that everything works appropriately.
Maintain accurate records of all expenses, client interactions, and transactions.
Computer networking knowledge (Ethernet, serial communications protocols).
Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills.
Capable of lifting up to 50lbs, able to climb ladders and masts and capable of working at heights.
Fluent in English (spoken & written).
Hold Valid Driver’s License and Passport (or the ability to obtain one for International Travel).
Must be currently living in AND authorized to work in the USA..
Dependable and willing to work a flexible schedule including overtime.

You must have significant industry experience being that this will be the first person in.
A competitive compensation package is flexible based upon what you bring to the table! We need a superstar so we anticipate 1st year earnings to be close to or above $100K USD.
In addition, if relocation is necessary, company assistance for that may be an option.
Initially, you will work and travel from your home office which could be anywhere on the Great Lakes from Duluth to Cleveland or in-between. As business grows, an appropriate office location will be secured.
