Job Title: COBOL Programmer
Department: Information Technology
Position Reports To: Director of IT
Responsible for managing the activities of the overall general accounting function. The position will report to the Director of IT.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
The COBOL Programmer will be a key team player and hands-on contributor in the Information Technology Department. Responsible for maintaining the ISeries/AS400 system and other existing legacy applications that support current business operations. Develop new applications as needed. The environment is the ISeries/AS400 with 95% COBOL and 5% RPG working in a manufacturing and distribution environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Works directly with users to translate requirements into system specifications.
Analyzes existing program logic to determine best method of accomplishing required changes or cause of program malfunction.
Performs maintenance and modification of programs currently in production to keep them responsive to user needs and to assure efficient operation in the production environment.
Thoroughly tests coded programs to validate accuracy.
Analyzes production programs to isolate problems or to determine more efficient methods.
Documenting the detailed application specifications, translate technical requirements into programmed application modules and develop/enhance software application modules Strong problem solving and analytical skills Comprehensive knowledge and development expertise with ISeries/AS/400 DB2, CL, DDS, DFU, DSPF, Query, and Client Access.
Experience in the Windows 7 & 10 environment a plus.
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field.
Recent college graduate and/or one to three years' experience in the development, testing, implementation and maintenance of ISeries/AS/400 batch and interactive COBOL programs.
Self-starter who can effectively function independently and has sense of urgency in executing duties

Strong organizational and project/time management skills with ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects
Excellent facilitation, analytical and organizational skills

This is a full-time position. Must be able to work flexible hours. Additional hours may be required as needed.
