Plans, acquires, analyzes, and interprets results of test data for military vehicles, vehicle systems and components. Designs test fixtures and instrumentation configurations to obtain necessary data. Documents test procedures, results, conclusions and recommendations in technical reports. Provides technical support and advice to other disciplines and organizations. Operates AC dynamometer system for powertrain development, performance verification, and durability. Ensures technical outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices and that customer and company technical, system, performance, and quality requirements are met. Previous vehicle test and dynamometer test experience are required. Limited travel to support off-site test activities is expected.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Vehicle test experience including instrumentation, data acquisition, and documentation.
Strong organizational skills and ability to develop test plans to meet project goals and schedule.
Dynamometer test experience related to powertrain development and performance verification.
Working knowledge of measurement sensors such as strain gages, pressure transducers, load cells, thermocouples, tachometers and flow meters is required.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications is required.
Ability to interpret product drawings and schematics is required.
Preferred Skills and Education
Experience with CAN bus data acquisition and analysis preferred.
Dewesoft X3 data acquisition software and hardware experience preferred.
MatLab, CREO, and Vector software preferred.
AVL PUMA Dynamometer control software preferred.
Experience with electronic test equipment such as DVM, oscilloscopes, power supplies, HiPot is preferred.
Soldering and electrical harness fabrication is a plus.
