ConocoPhillips, with about 1,100 Alaska employees, holds major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay Unit, the Kuparuk River Unit, and the Colville River Unit (Alpine). ConocoPhillips operates the Kuparuk and Alpine oil fields, has an ownership interest in the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.
If you are selected as the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide electrical discipline engineering and support to Kuparuk (GKA) and Alpine (WNS) projects. This position works closely with Operations and Capital Projects on modification and additions to production and support facilities, power generation, power distribution, heat trace, lighting and the fire & gas systems. The position is primarily capital projects support and is located in Anchorage.
Your responsibilities may include:
Support Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) goals
Support Alaska Integrity & Engineering Group goals
Coordinate closely with ConocoPhillips Alaska (COPA) engineers and maintenance technicians supporting field activities and operations managed projects to ensure consistency
Participate in sharing gained knowledge throughout the Alaska Business Unit and company
Support creation and updating of engineering criteria, specifications, guidelines, procedures and standard installation details
Ensure ConocoPhillips engineering standards are applied accurately and consistently
Own the creation of each project’s electrical basis of design including studies of existing electrical infrastructure capacities
Work collaboratively with and provide technical and project mentorship to engineering contracting firms working on projects
Review design work and monitor the performance of the design contractor’s electrical design teams
Coordinate electrical talks with other engineering disciplines
Participate in the project risk management process, process hazard analysis and safeguard evaluations
Partake in the development of operation, maintenance, and start-up philosophies
Participate in piping & instrumentation diagram (P&ID) and electrical & control systems drawing reviews
Assist in evaluation of proposals and quotes for major equipment
Review electrical recommendations to bid documents, and vendor submittals
Assist in factory acceptance testing and field inspections
Participate in start-up and commissioning activities
Help prepare quality assurance/quality control programs and plans
Assist in field inspections and flow sheet checkout
Serve as Lead Electrical Engineer (if designated)
Serve as electrical technical authority (TA) for Alaska (if designated)
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent
5+ years of field experience in petroleum production, refining, and/or chemical industry
1+ years of experience with electrical protective relays (GE Multilin)
1+ years of experience with low voltage and medium voltage drives (AB and Siemens)
1+ years of experience with Easy Power electrical modeling program
1+ years of experience with SAP document control system
Intermediate knowledge of electrical code (NEC 70)
Intermediate knowledge of API recommended practices and standards (API 500, API 505, etc.)
Intermediate knowledge of IEEE, ISA, UL, NEMA, and ANSI standards
10+ years of field experience in petroleum production, refining, and/or chemical industry
Training on GE Multilin electrical protective relays
Training on Rockwell Allen-Bradley low voltage drives
Training on Siemens medium voltage drives
Training on Easy Power electrical modeling program
Professional Electrical Engineer License in Alaska
Electrical Administrator in Alaska
Strong team leadership and collaboration skills
