Job description: We are currently seeking a part-time VR Developer (20 hours per week) to develop virtual reality and augmented reality platform, and connect the developed software to our novel state-of-the-art robotic platform for rehabilitation. The ideal candidate would be a VR developer who can work closely with our current R&D team to create leading-edge VR and AR applications. For this position, you must possess the ability to utilize provided assets to create VR applications using the HTC VIVE and Oculus Rift to support TR’s VR platforms. The candidate is responsible for researching, evaluating, implementing and testing new and innovative ways of using emerging technologies for VR. The lab and office are located at the Smartpark, University of Manitoba, where the candidate should work.

Requirements:

Have a strong command of at least C# programing

  • Be willing to learn new skills as required
  • Experience in machine learning and data-driven analysis
  • Experience with AR/VR platforms (such as PTC Vuforia Studio)
  • Strong understanding of 3D asset creation and animation, textures, and UI design
  • Multi-OS (Windows and Linux) platform experience
  • Nice to have past experience using motion capture sensors like Kinect and Leap Motion
  • Familiarity with 3D, real-time computer graphics, knowledge of OpenGL

Duties: The candidate will have the following credentials and skills:

  • Collaborating with our partners at different universities
  • Translating the end-user feedback to engineering language for our R&D department
  • Build 3D AR / VR experiences using the Unity3D game engine.
  • Participating in technical meetings.
  • Continuously test, debug, profile, analyze, and optimize on applicable VR hardware and software.
  • Developing software on a range of platforms including HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, iOS, Android, raspberry pi, Arduino, and more.
  • Researching the possibilities of virtual and augmented reality.
  • Cross-technology problem solving
  • Making 3D models in Blender Game Engine

Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience using Unity3D game engine, and programming in C#. Prior experience with haptics and robotics is an asset. All applicants must have superb oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated excellence in academic writing.

Anticipated start date: Immediately.

Salary: $20-$22/hr
