The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is an agency committed to providing a safe, high quality and efficient transportation system for the State of Wyoming. We are currently seeking one (2) Temporary Snow Plow Operators for the Maintenance Program in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Under limited supervision, performs various maintenance duties to provide a safe, high quality and efficient transportation system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

Maintains and operates complex equipment safely and proficiently.
Performs duties involved in removing snow and ice from roadways.
Utilizes special computerized equipment.
Operates single and tandem axle trucks, equipped with plows, wing plow, sander and chemical systems to remove snow and ice from roadway surfaces.
Communicates information in order to update others as to work status and/or process effectiveness.


This an entry level position that requires no prior training or experience.
Preference may be given to applicants who have a current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements prior to employment.

Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair procedures.
Knowledge of hazardous materials Response Procedures
Knowledge of Federal and State requirements for proper use of personal protective equipment
Knowledge of basic equipment operation for single and tandem axle trucks, loaders and tractors.
Knowledge of Safe Work Procedures, First Aid and CPR, Material Safety Data Sheets for chemicals used in completing tasks.

Necessary Special Requirements

Must have the ability to sit/stand and operate equipment for long periods of time.
Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
Must have the ability to work in adverse environmental conditions.
Individuals in this classification must be available for emergency work calls at anytime, including nights,weekends and holidays, with a response time of no greater than 30 minutes.

FLSA: Non-exempt
All new hires or re-hires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018 are required to be paid hourly.
This is a temporary, full-time position.
WYDOT will conduct motor vehicle record checks to verify for a valid driver's license.
Individuals in this classification are required to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 30 days of employment
